Teacher’s day celebration

“The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be ignited." –Plutarch

The institute organized “Teachers’ Day Celebration” on 5th September, 2010. The inauguration of this function was done by the Director Dr.K.N.Sheth. He believes in the words of Peter Drucker that “Teaching is the only major occupation of man for which we have not yet developed tools that make an average person capable of competence and performance. In teaching we rely on the "naturals," the ones who somehow know how to teach.

Some students gave speech and took classes on teachers’ day. The function ended with a small get together party and declaration of the results of the teachers’ day competition.  The winners of the event are:

3 days Soft skills training Programme

Our institute has taken a leadership for the MBA and Engineering students to enhance their soft skills along with hard skills. Keeping this in mind, experts having the industrial and HR background were invited for imparting training to the students. This training was imparted by Aspire-Human Capital Management Pvt.Ltd. For MBA this training was from 23/11/10 to 25/11/10 and for Engineering 29/11/10 to 1/12/10. It was 20 hours training.

This programme was inaugurated by the honorable Vice Chancellor of GTU Dr.Akshai Aggarwal. According to him we need to develop both hard and soft skills along with industrial experiences. There must be Industrial interface section, because the real situation will teach you more. In other words not only theoretical but practical approach should be there. P

Prof.M.N.Patel was Guest of Honor of this function. He also focused on significance of soft skills. Our beloved Director has thrown light in the same direction. That not only technical skills but soft skills are crucial phenomena and that is the demand of the global market-carve yourself with the colors of soft and hard skills. Students really learnt various types of skills like how to appear in an interview and in Group discussion, how to develop Reading skills, how to develop our personality, thinking skills and importance of time management keeping in mind the goal. Dr.K.N.Sheth explained the significance of technical skill and interpersonal skill.

Vice Chancellor in his address had shared his concern for soft skill development for all the students of GTU and had expressed his views that there should be at least one course in each semester.
