Sports Society of SIEM



The dynamic and visionary top management of SIEM, especially the captain of the ship – Dr. K. N. Sheth (Director) has always emphasized that along with good academic performance, the students should be physically and mentally strong. With the focus of building physical and mental strength as well as a spirit of team-spirit and leadership, the Sports Society of SIEM has been encouraging the students to take up sports and play at the college level and University Level.

During the last quarter of the year 2010, a total of 84 students had represented the institute in the inter-college sports tournament organized by the Gujarat Technological University at various locations in Gujarat.  The entire support in terms of training, practice, equipment and travel/dearness allowance was given by the institute to the selected sportspersons.

This year, the institute organized the college-level tournament, Sports Premier League - branded as the SPL – 2011 and it was held on 16h April 2011 at the college campus.
More than 450 students from 13 classes of engineering and management participated in 7 games.  The outdoor games includes cricket, volleyball and our national game - kabaddi; whereas the indoor games include badminton, table-tennis, carrom and chess.

The mammoth task of selection of students to form 91 different combinations of class-teams in the respective games was carried over a period of 20 days starting from 2nd March and finishing on 22nd March.  The selections were carried out by the Sports Society Committee Members comprising of 15 faculty members and 15 students.

Sports Premier League (SPL-11) - 16th April 2011


In a short span of just two years, Saraswati Institute of Engineering and Mangement has created milestones in the field of technical education comprising of Engineering and Management courses.  Located at the serene and peaceful countryside of Gujarat, at Rajpur, Mehsana, the institute – fondly known as “SIEM” has always charted a course for the overall development of its students.

The dynamic and visionary top management of SIEM, especially the captain of the ship – Dr. K. N. Sheth (Director) has always emphasized that along with good academic performance, the students should be well versed in ‘soft’ skills to build a strong personality and character.  Hence, over the period of last six months, various high quality events have been organized, some of which are as follows:
  1. 3-Day Soft Skills Development Program - 23rd November 2010 
  2. Networking Workshop - 29th  Jan 2011
  3. Electrical Installation and Safety Seminar - 8th  February 2011
  4. Robotics Workshop - 9th February 2011
  5. National Level Brand Management Seminar – 26th March 2011

A grand total of around 400 participants qualified to play 7 games in the SPL 2011.  The first round involved 91 teams and out of that 27 teams qualified to play in the second round.   Finally, 16 teams made it to the finals out of which 7 teams emerged as winners and 5 individuals emerged as winners.
